Hello, I'm Adam

I'm a writer, trainer and communications strategist. All my work is rooted in change. I am trying to make a positive impact myself and I am using my skills and experiences to help power up people and organisations that want to act with greater purpose.

When I moved to Amsterdam in 2016, I saw the city’s nickname, A’dam, everywhere. Sharing my name with a place bubbling with creative opportunity inspired me to also choose that name for my own enterprise. A'DAM is a communications consulting, content and coaching business.

My work in this area has led to the book Influence: Powerful Communications, Positive Change (published in 2021 by BIS). This is a comprehensive communications playbook for startups, entrepreneurs and changemakers, building skills for greater impact. From branding to public speaking, I've got you covered.

I was a national newspaper and magazine journalist in the UK before moving to PR and communications 18 years ago. I have won awards for both journalism and PR.

I continue to write and occasionally take on journalism commissions on communications trends, social issues or cycling. I am also called on to comment on these subjects at events or in the media, appearing in international titles, including BBC online, Fast Company, Entrepreneur and the World Economic Forum stories.

My work has spanned many subjects but I have specialist knowledge in four principal areas: sustainability, purposeful business, mental health and cycling.

For the latter, I have long advocated for greater cycling in towns and cities to improve health, community strength, opportunities and the environment. This was the subject of my TEDx talk. Cycling has been a big part of my life since I pedalled 4,500 miles across the USA in 2004 - this led to the book The Limey Project.
